The orphanage was established
with a broad vision and mission at hand by a
highly motivated and dedicated team. The
objectives of the orphanage possess an
international outlook and noble ambition.
The vilage, Hemmathagama, where
this institution is situated is around 100 km
far away from the capital, Colombo. It has a
population numbering around 1500 families, whose
educational background is commendably high.
since it's establishment in January 1994 it was
able to walk through many hurdles and
difficulties.
The orphanage provides its
inmates with free foods, lodging and an
education with a cultural background. A well
equipped IT laboratory provides computer
literacy to every child. A Vocational training
program is also planed.
At present 65 orphans boys are
being accommodated and trained at the orphanage.
The day to day maintenance of the orphanage is
financed by donations obtained from well
wishers. As the amount of financial support
received is limited and not regular, further
development of the orphanage has been an
impediment.
We need approximately Rs.6000 $
32 for a day's expenses. The cost of an orphan
boy's maintenance for a period of one month's
maintenance. The management committee of the
orphanage appeals to the local and international
comity to provide financial and material support
for this noble task. |
